Is Jaylen Waddle playing today? Injury updates for Dolphins WR

Update: Waddle is inactive

Jaylen Waddle has been a durable player for most of his time with the Miami Dolphins, but suffered a knee injury in Week 15 that has his status for Sunday in doubt.

The fourth-year wide receiver, who has only missed three games in his career, was rolled up on from behind while blocking against the Houston Texans. While he was ruled questionable to return to that game, Waddle spent the remainder of Week 15 watching from the sideline.

Now Waddle is doubtful to play in Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers. Here’s what we know about the receiver’s status:

The Dolphins used the doubtful designation seven times in the first 15 weeks of the 2024 season and are seven players ended up being ruled out. While Waddle hasn’t officially been declared unavailable and reports on his status are scarce, it’d be a shock if he played against the 49ers.

Miami also elevated Erik Ezukanma from the practice squad to provide additional receiver depth, although Grant DuBose’s move to the injured reserve may have necessitated that move, regardless.

The Dolphins also listed Tyreek Hill as questionable for Week 16, but early indications are that he’ll play Sunday. That’s important because the team’s other wide receivers Sunday will be Malik Washington, River Cracraft, and Erik Ezukanma. The Dolphins also rely heavily on running back De’Von Achane and tight end Jonnu Smith in the pass game.
