Is Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson a real boxing fight tonight?

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson square off inside a boxing ring tonight.

‘The Problem Child’ returns to the ring for the first time since beating Mike Perry back in May, while former world heavyweight champion Tyson laces up his gloves for the first time since an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

They had been due to square off in July but the fight was rescheduled after Tyson suffered a health scare in May while on a flight between Los Angeles and Miami.

It has been almost twenty years since Tyson (50-6, 44KOs) fought in a professional capacity, the night he retired after losing to Kevin McBride in 2005.

Is Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson a real fight?

While the sport’s purists are likely to disagree, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is indeed an officially sanctioned fight.

Both men will put their records on the line at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation conducted a review of Paul and Tyson in March, which included evaluating their records and medical history along with a few changes to the rules of the bout.

Commission spokesperson, Tela Mange, said: "Our Combative Sports staff evaluate numerous factors to determine if an event can be held in a manner that is safe for both contestants and in compliance with Department laws and rules.

“The safety of the contestants competing in the ring or the Octagon is always the primary concern of TDLR staff. This competition is no different."

Nakisa Bidarian of MVP Promotions added: "Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome," Nakisa Bidarian of MVP Promotions said.

The fight is scheduled for eight two-minute rounds of action, rather than the usual 12 three-minute rounds, though could finish earlier if there is a stoppage.
