London-based internet service Hyperoptic has been undergoing issues since around 7am on April 24, causing a raft of reports from subscribers.
“We're currently facing service disruptions in a number of areas,” the Hyperoptic X account posted.
“Our team is on it and working hard to get everything back up and running. We'll keep you posted with any updates right here. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!”
According to ISPreview, the root of the issue was in the Domain Name System. And while it appears to be in the process of being resolved, it has spurred some complaints across social media.
“When I see people with @Hyperoptic vans outside their houses, I’m going to start telling them how awful and unreliable their service really is. Honest customer feedback is required to stop people falling victim and getting tied in with this company,” writes X user MakedaQoS.
Hyperoptic now advises the issue should largely be resolved, but suggests changing DNS settings if you are still having problems.
“It should be working now. If it's not, please try changing your DNS or ping us in the DM for assistance,” Hyperoptic replied to one user on X.
Hyperoptic is an independent full-fibre internet provider, available in at least 64 towns and cities across the UK.
