Andrew Garfield may have developed a name in Hollywood for being a little bit of a charmer, but he’s always kept his dating life as far as possible from the public eye.
The actor, born in 1983, is a Tony Award winning performer, gained wide-ranging recognition for playing Spider Man in 2012 and 2014, later reprising his role in 2021.
He’s also starred in Hacksaw Ridge and acted on Broadway and in musicals, making him a great all-rounder in the arts.
It was during his time as Spider Man that Garfield began dating his on-screen co-star Emma Stone, with the pair having a three-year relationship before going their separate ways.
Now currently in the press tour for his latest film alongside Florence Pugh, We Live In Time, the actor’s goofy and often chaotic charm has been winning over fans once again.
From his “joy” over the viral horse memes the film’s first poster birthed to his unabashed retelling of filming sex scenes with his co-star it’s been truly wild.
There’s even been mention of dick pics. Yes, you read that correctly.
In an interview with AP Entertainment, he joked about his phone’s photo album, saying, “I’m not going to open my photos right now,” before Florence responded: “What’s on your phone?”
“Just lots of dick picks. My own,” replied Andrew. “Cut this out.”
“I didn’t know you could do press like this,” Florence quipped. “I didn’t know you could say something outrageous and then be like, ‘Cut’.”
In the spotlight, more now than ever as he promotes the film in the most hilariously unhinged manner, you may be wondering who the actor is romantically linked to.
Who Andrew Garfield dated, and who is his girlfriend now? Here’s what you need to know.
Andrew Garfield’s Full Dating Timeline
October 2024: Amelia Dimoldenberg
After waiting for what feels like an eternity for Andrew Garfield to finally make good on his multiple red carpet promises to schedule a Chicken Shop Date with host Amelia Dimoldenberg, the two finally found time to sit down for some chips and a flirt-filled chat.
Expectations were high after two years of meet-cutes between the pair, who’d been crossing paths and exchanging sparks across the comedic host’s multiple awards night gigs – and this episode did not disappoint.
As soon as the cameras started rolling, so too did their palpable chemistry, with Garfield immediately asking Dimoldenberg if she thought their on-screen date could impact any future off-screen prospects between them.
Gesturing to the film equipment surrounding them, Garfield asks “If this wasn’t here, do you think we’d actually go on a date? Do you think this is f****d up, the fact that we could’ve actually gone on a date at some point? Maybe. I actually believe, maybe, we could’ve.”
The We Live In Time actor continued, “Come on, we can own that like it’s… been vibey” to which Dimoldenberg responded: “To the point where you’ve been avoiding me for two years because the vibes were too much for you to handle.”
The amorous exchange continued, with Garfield complementing Amelia on her “bold” approach to dating, admitting he finds it very attractive. “I think that’s sexy. I think that’s really hot.” Give this woman an Oscar of her own, because keeping her cool after comments like that is truly an award-winning performance in our eyes.
And just when you thought the date couldn’t get any better, Garfield casually lets Amelia know exactly how he feels about her: “You’re funnier, that’s a quality I really appreciate in you.”
Will this date be written into Chicken Shop lore as Amelia’s romantic end game? Is this the evidence the star-crossed lovers will hand over when their future offspring ask for their origin story?
Who knows. But if the undeniable connection witnessed during this episode is anything to go by, then it just might be everything our rom-com-loving hearts have ever wished for.
February – October 2024: Dr Kate Tomas
Garfield was seen holding hands with Dr Kate Tomas on Friday February 29, 2024. The pair appeared to be on a double date, seen alongside Phoebe Bridgers and her partner Bo Burnham.
Garfield cut a casual figure in a neutral sweater and baseball cap, while Tomas wore a floral dress and handbag. See the pictures here.
Dr Tomas has a doctoral degree in philosophical theology from Oxford university, and her website describes her as one of the “most highly educated and sought after magickal practitioners in the world.”
Her website offers readings, spiritual mentorship, consulting, and masterclasses.
It wasn’t meant to be however, with Dr Tomas confirming the couple had split by replying to fans queries in her Instagram comments.
“We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved ,” she wrote. So, as far as we know, Andrew Garfield is currently single.
2021-2022: Alyssa Miller
Garfield and model Alyssa Miller dated in the spring of 2021, even attending a spate of award shows together such as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards in February 2022.
However, in April 2022, rumours began that the pair had split.
Miller posted to Instagram writing, “If you must gossip at least use a cute photo. Lol love you AG.” While it didn’t directly reference their relationship, it appeared the exes were at least on good terms when they called it quits.
Miller had previously dated actor Jack Gyllenhaal.
2019-2021: Christine Gabel
Garfield began dating model and medical professional Christine Gabel in the winter of 2019, but kept their partnership mostly behind closed doors.
It’s believed that Gabel went to the University of Southern California to achieve her degree.
The pair were together for two years, later spotted holding hands as they exited a hotel in New York City in November 2021. They went their separate ways soon after that.
2019: Aisling Bea
Not too much is known about Garfield’s relationship with Bea, however they were reportedly seen by fans attending a Hamilton show together, arm-in-arm, in 2019.
Bea is an Irish actress and comedian who has appeared in a spate of series and panel shows in the UK.
2018: Rita Ora
Ora and Garfield were never confirmed to be dating, but there were rumours that the two were together back in late 2018.
2012-2015: Emma Stone
Andrew and Emma met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010. They were friends first, and it wasn’t until November 2011 that the pair were first seen on a date.
The pair went on dating for a number of years, with a few rumoured breaks and break ups, according to PEOPLE. They officially called it quits in October 2015, but were still on good terms.
In October 2016, Stone told Vogue that Garfield was “someone I still love very much.” In December 2016 Garfield told The Hollywood Reporter when asked who he would take to a desert island, “Emma Stone. I love Emma. She’s all right. She can come.”
The pair have continued to support each other throughout their careers, even though Emma is now married to a writer for Saturday Night Live, Dave McCray.
On July 7, 2023, Stone’s close friend Taylor Swift released a re-recording of Speak Now, which featured a song called ‘When Emma Falls In Love’. It’s believed to be about Stone (although this is not confirmed) and her falling in love with Garfield back in 2010 when the album was originally written.
Some of the lyrics include: “Emma met a boy with eyes like a man, turns out her heart fits right in the palm of his hand. Now he’ll be her shelter when it rains, little does he know, his whole world’s about to change.”
Whether or not it is about the couple, that sure is a flattering thing to have written about your budding relationship.
