Is Fortnite down? Epic Games updates on connection issues

Fortnite players faced issues with the battle royale game on Tuesday, with up to 253 reports on Downdetector, a site that tracks website and server outages.

Of these, 85 per cent were related to server connection problems, while 11 per cent were linked to login issues. According to Epic Games' server status page, these disruptions may be due to planned maintenance, though they appear to have lasted longer than expected.

Here’s a closer look at what’s bothering players and how long the problems may persist.

When will the Fortnite servers be back up?

Servers should be back to normal, with the scheduled maintenance being worked on by Epic Games completed, by 10.49am UTC (11.49am in the UK).

However, some users continued to experience issues as late as 1pm, based on several ongoing reports on Downdetector.

The problem may be caused by intermittent voice connection issues, which can be mistaken for server outages by users. Epic Games has acknowledged the issue and provided an update on the ongoing work to resolve it.

“We're investigating intermittent EOS voice connection issues affecting a subset of users in the Middle East region,” said Epic Games. “We're working to resolve this and will provide another update once we have more information or the issue is fixed.”

For players, the best option is to restart the game or wait for the maintenance work to take effect.

Epic Games recently resolved another issue on April 7, when wishlist charts failed to load in the Developer Portal.
