Is FIFA 23 down? Users report EA server connection issues

A connection problem in EA servers has paused access to the developer’s most popular games.

Issues first emerged as early as 5.33am on Tuesday (June 27) and, since then, have continued on into the morning, according to Downdetector, an online platform that provides users with real-time status of services.

The platform also suggests most people are suffering problems connecting to the server (74 per cent), while some are struggling to access gameplay on EA titles (15 per cent), and the rest are facing problems with the website (11 per cent).

It is impacting EA servers across all consoles — PC, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo. The developer's numerous well-liked titles, including FIFA 23, Battlefield, F1, and many others, have been put on hold as a result.

EA is yet to comment on the disruption but, in the error message, prompts to players suggest EA is working to address the problem.

Many are reporting the reason behind the downtime is that EA servers are down for maintenance. FIFA Direct Communication reported around 7am that they will be performing online maintenance on FIFA across all consoles and that all online services and features will be unavailable.

Once the most recent maintenance is finished, Title Update 14 will be made available. Players will need to be patient while certain game modes, such as Ultimate Team, will be unavailable until then.

Users have logged into Twitter to let off some steam regarding the connection problem.

One unlucky user said: “Man I just decided to procrastinate work and play some FIFA but EA servers are down. I feel a void.”

While another added: “When you sit down to play a couple of games on #FIFA23 and the EA servers are down #LFC #PS5.”

A third added: “Im hearing the EA Fifa servers are down at a time when I could be earning packs? #Fifa23”
