Derrick White is having an All-Star-caliber season for the Boston Celtics. He’s arguably their most consistent player and has been finding ways to fill gaps on the roster in every game. However, White’s box score production could go against him when it comes to All-Star voting. He’s averaging 17 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists, shooting 48.6% from the field and 41.3% from 3-point range.
Being a role-playing guard in the Eastern Conference makes it tough to crack an All-Star team, regardless of how well you’re playing. White will face competition from Donovan Mitchell, Trae Young, Jalen Brunson, Damian Lillard, et al. for an All-Star selection, which could leave him on the outside looking in.
In a recent episode of the “Celtics Talk” podcast, NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg discussed White’s chances of cracking an All-Star team this season and the potential pitfalls in his way.
