The New Orleans Saints season has been marred by injuries throughout, including a significant one to their starting quarterback.
Derek Carr has been dealing with a left hand injury since the Saints’ Week 14 game against the New York Giants. It is not the first time he has missed games this season, literally adding insult to injury with New Orleans’ struggles.
The Saints will now face his former team, the Las Vegas Raiders, in Week 17.
Derek Carr injury update
Carr ended up missing practice all week and will indeed be absent from the matchup with his former squad. He was ruled out in the final New Orleans injury report.
How long will Derek Carr be out?
Though the injury looked bad as soon it happened, there was some belief that he would be able to return before the end of the season. Seeing as though he hasn’t practiced yet and there is only one more game after this, it is safe to assume that he won’t return this season.
Saints QB depth chart
Rookie Spencer Rattler will get the start against the Raiders. He has yet to get a real look in the NFL with a healthy roster, but it is still good to get him reps while the season winds down. If things get bad, though, Jake Haener could see some more snaps as well.
