Is Conor McGregor's next UFC fight about to be announced? Fighter's cryptic message to fans

Conor McGregor has told his American fans he'll see them soon as he looks set for a return to the octagon in the coming months.

The UFC star sent a number of late night tweets as he hinted that he may soon be back fighting under the UFC banner.

Alongside a string of pictures, McGregor said: "Weighing it at super heavy weight bread, the double champ does what the fook he wants, mystic mac attack, I love the USA. See you soon USA."

He later tweeted just his fighting nickname "the Notorious", hinting fans across the world could soon be hearing those words come out of fight announcer Bruce Buffer's mouth.

It comes after major developments in the Irishman's division, defending UFC champion Charles Oliveira has been stripped of his title after failing to make the 155 pound weight for his bout with Justin Gaethje on Saturday night.

The 32-year-old Brazilian was due to put his lightweight title on the line at UFC 274 in Arizona but weighed in half a pound over the limit.

It left him with an hour to make weight, but after failing to do so the fight will no longer go ahead. UFC title fights do not permit the one-pound allowance typically afforded in non-championship showdowns.

Gaethje had been handed a second shot at the title as he aimed to become the sport's undisputed champion. Khabib Nurmagomedov was able to beat him within two rounds last time but Gaethje saw Oliveira as a completely different challenge.
