Is Community Fibre down? Super-fast internet provider's users report problems with service

Community Fibre is down (PA) - (PA Wire)

Thousands of Community Fibre users are reporting problems with their internet service.

The issues began at around 3pm on Friday, according to Down Detector.

The news comes just days after thousands of residents across London were left without internet for hours after Community Fibre went offline.

Many customers were exasperated with the latest outage, and flocked to X to express their dismay.

One person wrote: “Community fibre down AGAIN. now I want some compensation 2 working days in one month is just not on.”

Another added: “Community Fibre is down again for the second time this week?? I want a refund for this month!”

Community Fibre is a London-based internet service provider that builds, owns, and operates its own dedicated full-fibre optic network, delivering high-speed broadband directly to homes (known as fibre-to the-premises).

Unlike ADSL broadband connections which use standard copper wires to send data, fibre optic broadband works by sending laser light along plastic or glass cables – literally at the speed of light. It means data can be sent and received at vastly improved speeds.

Community Fibre has more than 300,000 customers, mainly across London and the surrounding areas.

Last year, Community Fibre was among a handful of smaller companies that beat the UK’s big four broadband providers in a customer survey. The others included Zen Internet and Hyperoptic, which topped the table based on a survey of 4,471 people with a home broadband contract.
