Is Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird a top-five all-time shooter?

Even though it was Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird who was on the court when the first 3-pointer in NBA history was shot by teammate Chris Ford and the man hit the first trey in All-Star game history, The Hick From French Lick was not a high volume 3-point shooter.

Had the 3-ball been more of a thing in the early days of its existence, Bird could well have been among the all-time greats from beyond the arc. Such was the counterfactual history that was explored by the folks over at the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast.

Debating whether Bird might have been on the level of Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry, guest and CLNS co-founder Nick Gelso landed with Larry Legend somewhere in the top five shooters in NBA history.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
