Is Bad Bunny hinting at a new album? Everything we know so far

Bad Bunny has sparked excitement from fans around the globe with what appears to be the announcement of his upcoming album.

It looks like the Puerto Rican superstar, 29, could well release a fifth studio album imminently, following up his hugely popular Un Verato Sin Vi project.

Bad Bunny posted a list of 22 songs on X, formerly known as Twitter, yesterday (October 8). Every song is titled Fuego, which translates to fire in English. Though it seems somewhat unlikely to be a final tracklist for an album - it’d be a bold move giving every track the same name - it still suggests the singer has some heat on the way for his fans.

The singer has been toying with fans following a Vanity Fair cover interview last month. In the feature, he was coy in response to questions about Un Verato Sin Vi’s follow-up, though writer Michelle Ruiz seemed fairly sure that it was on the way. Responding to speculation on his fan WhatsApp channel, he wrote in Spanish: “Haha someone tell me where I said I was releasing an album this year because nowhere did I say that.”

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming album:

Who is Bad Bunny?

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, a Puerto Rican Spanish-speaking singer, and one of the biggest streaming artists in the world, at just 29-years-old.

Bad Bunny is one of the biggest music stars on the planet, having topped Spotify’s end-of-year listener figures every year since 2020.

The singer made history by becoming the first Latin artist to top the bill at Coachella Festival this year, and more recently, the Puerto Rican superstar has since made headlines following confirmation of his relationship with supermodel Kendall Jenner.

What is Bad Bunny’s new album called?

There is not yet any confirmation on an album title. but fans can expect to hear more soon - and the likelihood is that it could well have something to do with fire.

When will Bad Bunny release his new album?

The date is yet to be confirmed, but it’s worth noting that Bad Bunny has a track record when it comes to releasing his albums with little notice. 2022’s Un Verano Sin Ti came out just days after its announcement.

Adding fuel to the fire, Bad Bunny’s cryptic hint comes mere weeks before he hosts and performs on legendary US late-night show Saturday Night Live (SNL), which could suggest there’s some new material dropping this month.

What will Bad Bunny’s new album sound like?

Though Un Verano Sin Ti was hugely successful, the singer confirmed his latest venture will be a departure from last year’s sound. Speaking to Vanity Fair, he said: “It’s impossible that the album that comes after Un Verano Sin Ti will sound like it—never, ever. I am always going to look for a way to do something new.”

“I am playing around and enjoying myself, letting go. I’m being inspired a lot by the music of the ’70s, but I’m not sure if this is going to shape my music, generally or just one song,” he told the outlet.

He added that a follow-up has potential to be his most personal yet: “Now more than ever, I feel more confident in talking about what I think, what I feel, and how I am living through my music.”

Has Bad Bunny released a single from the album yet?

Bad Bunny did release a single titled Un Preview late last month, though it was billed as a stand-alone at the time. The track does seem to explore different sounds and genres for the singer,,r though, and could act as a hint for what’s to come.

With the exception of his Un Preview track last month, Bad Bunny has otherwise been quiet on the musical front. He did, however, feature in Drake’s For All The Dogs album on a track called Gently, and also made an appearance on Travis Scott’s UTOPIA track K-Pop alongside The Weeknd.
