In the fourth quarter of what eventually ended up being a Week 12 loss for the Indianapolis Colts at the hands of the Detroit Lions, wide receiver Ashton Dulin would leave the game with an ankle injury and did not return.
Ashton Dulin injury update
Following Sunday’s injury, Dulin was listed with having an ankle injury. He did not practice at all during the week and after Friday’s final practice, head coach Shane Steichen ruled him out of this week’s matchup with the New England Patriots.
How long will Ashton Dulin be out?
As of now, we haven’t received any official word on the timeline for Dulin and his injury. With him not being placed on injured reserve, perhaps the Colts feel it is more of a short-term injury.
After this week’s game with New England, the Colts will finally have their bye week, providing Dulin with additional time to rest and hopefully return for the final stretch.
Indianapolis Colts WR depth chart
With both Josh Downs and Dulin out, the return units for the Colts will take a hit on Sunday as well. Tyler Goodson and rookie Anthony Gould could be tasked with filling in.
As far as the offense goes, Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman, as they regularly do, will shoulder the workload at the boundary receiver position. AD Mitchell will be mixed in as well, but he could also be tasked with lining up from the slot some in Downs’ absence in what I would guess is a by-committee approach to fill that void.
