Is Anthony Davis finally nearing a return to the Lakers’ lineup?

For about a week and a half, Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has been doing some light work on the court, such as shooting, looking to get ready for a possible return to game action after spraining his foot in Mid-February.

A few days ago, he reportedly ramped things up a bit, and head coach Frank Vogel said that Davis was progressing.

Now, there may be something of a timetable for Davis’ return, and that return could come sooner than some anticipated.

Via ESPN:

“If everything continues to progress well in Davis’ rehab, the All-Star big man could be suiting up for games by the first week of April, at the earliest, sources told ESPN,” wrote Dave McMenamin.

This is Davis’ second major injury of the season. He sprained his MCL in December during a contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he ended up missing about five weeks as a result.

Right after the injury occurred, L.A., which had come into the contest having won six of its previous eight games, instantly went on a five-game losing streak.

Davis’ return can’t come soon enough, as the Lakers have a very challenging schedule to end the regular season. The team still sits in ninth place in the Western Conference but is only half a game ahead of the 10th-place New Orleans Pelicans.
