Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 bride Awhina Rutene has opened up about the true intentions of her on-screen husband, Adrian Arouzou, and whether he was on the show for the right reasons.
ICYMI, MAFS 2025 has seen a mass exodus of grooms. Earlier in the season, Eliot Donovan and Tim Gromie dipped out of the experiment due to their matches. Following those two, Jake Luik left the show after he was called out for the brutal comments he made about the wives during the photo ranking challenge, citing he lost trust in his wife Ashleigh Ackerman who told her fellow castmates about the remarks.
On Tuesday night’s episode, Adrian Arouzou abruptly left the experiment after he was left out of a promotional shoot for the show. Keep in mind, Awhina didn’t know he left until she came back to an empty apartment and only found out about the reason after a heated phone call.

During their argument, Awhina constantly spoke about how Adrian shouldn’t be leaving the experiment over a promotional shoot because he should be on the show for love. After all, it’s supposed to be an experiment about finding the one, right?
Well, because it is one of Australia’s biggest reality TV shows, there’s definitely that lingering thought that some (if not most) of the participants are on here for clout.
This year’s cast also features a bunch of actors — including Ryan Donnelly and Jeff Gobbels — which has folks questioning if MAFS 2025 is truly genuine reality TV.

Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Awhina reflected on whether her assigned hubby was on MAFS for the right reasons, explaining that she believes folks can have “two truths in one”.
“You can go on to an experiment like this because of what you want that comes after, like with the exposure, and then you can also be open to love,” she shared.
“You know, [Adrian] does have his E-commerce business, he did have a social media platform. And yes, he does like attention, but you can still go on a show like this, and have, you know, ulterior motives, but still be open to love.
“I do think that Adrian definitely went on the experiment for the exposure, but he can still be open to love.”
In a previous interview with PEDESTRIAN.TV, MAFS expert John Aiken stressed the show was unscripted and that all the fuckery that unfolded on the show was organic.
“Our cast are real people, not actors, that they do exist out in the real world,” Walsh shared.
“You may not come across them in your day-to-day, but they’re out there, and they come from all sorts of different backgrounds, from all around Australia it is an unscripted show because I often get asked about that.
“I also as an expert on not reading off the script or learning lines, because that often gets thrown at me.”

Not that I’m the end all be all of MAFS opinions, but as Awhina said, Adrian has a social media presence and has been yapping about the show since it aired, so I reckon Mister Man is getting in that fame while he can!
Now, let’s see if he takes the podcast or AusPol route like 2024’s Timothy Smith.
Married At First Sight returns tomorrow on Channel Nine and 9Now.
