Irvine Welsh TV series Crime seeking Glasgow properties to use as filming locations

Location managers for Irvine Welsh's TV adaptation of his best-selling book Crime are looking for Glasgow properties to use as filming locations for the series.

Letters from the TV series' location manager have reportedly been posted through the letterboxes of Dennistoun residents as filming is set to soon begin for the second series of the show.

Those who allow their homes to be used as a filming location will be paid a fee - however this is not disclosed in the letter shared with Glasgow Live.

The letters read: "Hello, I am the location manager for the second series of a TV drama to be filmed in west and central Scotland towards the end of the year, entitled Crime. We are looking for properties such as yours, for which we would pay a location fee.

"Like the first series (which is available to stream on BritBox), the second season of Crime is a six-part police drama featuring characters from Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh's 2008 novel of the same title and based on his forthcoming novel The Long Knives. With a script co-written by Welsh, Crime features a cast led by Dougray Scott, Ken Stott and Joanna Vanderham.

"Filming dates - late August to late November 2022 (on average, 1-2 days per property).

"This letter has been forwarded to Glasgow Film Office, which is part of Glasgow City Council. Please email info@glasgowfilm.com if you have any queries regarding the legitimacy of this letter."

Set in Edinburgh, but filmed in Glasgow, the synopsis for the second season of the gritty series reads: "We’ll re-visit Dougray Scott’s complex character, Ray Lennox, who is now settled back into life with Edinburgh’s Serious Crimes team, having fully recovered from his breakdown after the toll of his last investigation.

"And when a high-ranking member of the establishment is found dead in a Leith warehouse, Lennox is thrown into a case which quickly reveals itself as the work of a serial killer."
