Irvine Meadow boss George Grierson insists he won’t be reading too much into a spying trip on next opponents Glenafton Athletic.
With Meadow’s scheduled WoSFL Premier Division game at Arthurlie rained off last weekend, Grierson headed for Loch Park to see Glens in action against Pollok.
It was a miserable afternoon all round for the hosts as they had Jamie McKernon sent off in a 2-0 defeat in awful conditions.
But Grierson reckons it would be foolish to rush to judgement on Ryan Stevenson’s men ahead of tomorrow's league clash between the sides.
He said: “It was a horrible day for football, the park was a bit of a mess and it was really hard for anyone to play on that.
“We will be preparing for a very tough game. We had a good win at their place earlier in the season but that counts for nothing now.”
Grierson will be back in the dugout for the first time since November after recovering from a hip operation.
He returns with Medda in decent shape, lying sixth in the table despite a recent sticky patch of form.
Grierson believes there’s very little between most of the teams in the league but reckons there’s a chance for Meadow to cement a positive position in the coming weeks.
He said: “Anyone can beat anyone in this league but I think you’re starting to see wee gaps appearing now in the table.
“It’s really important to try and put runs together in this league and that’s what we’ve got to be aiming to do again.”
Defender Rhys Wallace is rated 50-50 for the Glens game as he recovers from injury.
