Irvine Meadow 1 Rob Roy 0: Fourth league win in a row sends Medda joint top

Irvine Meadow joined Darvel at the top of the West of Scotland League Premier Division after a 1-0 win at home to Rob Roy earlier tonight.

A second half own goal proved the difference in a scrappy encounter as George Grierson's men made it four league wins on the spin.

The victory puts Medda on 16 points alongside leaders Darvel who have a better goal difference and played one game less.

But it also marks a remarkable turnaround in Medda's fortunes since Grierson took the reins from Colin Spence and James Latta in September.

His only blip is a Scottish Junior Cup penalty shootout defeat at Petershill in his first game in charge - just days after he stepped into the hotseat.

Since then he's steered Meadow to one draw and four wins in the league and a South Challenge Cup victory over Arthurlie.

Meadow have also kept clean sheets in their last four outings. Ironically, the last player to score against Meadow was luckless defender Willie Lyle who turned the ball into his own net in a 4-3 win against Hurlford.
