WORKERS have partially called off strike action at the company that makes Irn Bru.
AG Barr employees have suspended strike action due to go ahead on Friday and Monday – but strikes due to go ahead later this month are still on the agenda, said their trade union.
Unite said there had been a “potential breakthrough” in the pay dispute through discussions with management via a mediation service.
In a statement, the union said: “Following talks through the auspices of Acas, the strike action has been suspended to allow discussions around a potential breakthrough in the pay dispute to continue.
“The trade union can confirm that this involves new proposals on pay.”
Planned strikes from October 20 to 30 are still going ahead, the union said, until members have been consulted if a new formal pay offer is tabled by management.
A spokesperson for AG Barr said: “We are committed to continuing to work with our trunker and shunter drivers and their trade union representatives to find a positive and constructive resolution.
"We have contingency plans in place to maintain customer service, and our distribution and deliveries are continuing as normal."
