Irn-Bru has announced a new promotion that will see it give away free cans and event tickets as part of Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
With the yearly event returning from March 15 to April 2, the makers of Scotland's other national drink are searching for the country's most hilarious jokes. To coincide with their announcement as an official partner of the festival, Irn-Bru will present a 'Canned Laughter' Club in Glasgow's Central Station this week.
Award-winning comedian Ray Bradshaw will host, giving members of the public the chance to tell him their best joke or impromptu set. Anyone who can make him laugh will be awarded with a cold can of Irn-Bru, or even tickets to often sold-out festival shows such as Stewart Lee, Fern Brady, and Frankie Boyle.
Marketing Director at AG BARR Adrian Troy commented: "We’re really excited to be supporting Glasgow International Comedy Festival during its 20th anniversary year. IRN-BRU absolutely thrives on Scotland’s cheeky sense of humour so we fully expect some of the jokes offered up at our venue to be top tier!"
GICF Director Krista MacDonald added: "So many comedy greats have come out of Glasgow, and the Glasgow International Comedy Festival has often been an important platform for up-and-coming talent. That's why everyone should take a chance on a show this year as you might end up in the audience of the future Kevin Bridges or Billy Connolly.
"We're so excited to work with IRN-BRU who have a long history of bringing out the funny, and we can't wait to see how many Glaswegians can make Ray laugh."
The Canned Laughter venue will be open from 11am to 7pm Monday March 13 to Wednesday March 15 March.
