Irish X Factor star Janet Devlin rushed to hospital after collapsing alone in hotel corridor

Irish X Factor star Janet Devlin was rushed to hospital after collapsing in a hotel corridor.

The 28-year-old singer from Co Tyrone revealed she lost consciousness on Wednesday night and ended up smashing her jaw and wrist on the floor.

Thinking she was alright, the talent show quarter finalist said she went to work the next day assuming she “had an abscess in my gum and slept funny on my wrist”.

But she later ended up in hospital and doctors must do further tests to try and find out why she collapsed.

Taking to social media to give fans an update, Janet - who has battled anorexia and addictions to alcohol and sleeping pills in the past - praised the hospital staff who looked after her.

Sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed, she wrote on Facebook: “Just wanting to take a second to say a thank you to the lovely Drs, Nurses and NHS staff that looked after me today! Especially Tyrone – if you ever see this – you’re a legend!”

“I’ve been safely discharged now! To anyone who doesn’t know what happened – I collapsed on Wednesday night, on my own, in a hotel corridor.

“I don’t know how long I was unconscious for, but I just went to work the next day as normal.

“But I woke up with a swollen jaw and a really painful wrist. I thought I had an abscess in my gum and slept funny on my wrist.

“I was wrong. I actually smashed my jaw on the floor and my wrist too.”

Janet continued: “Luckily I’m fine. My bloods are normal. Nothing is broken. I’ll be getting a referral to look into the heart again. Oh and resting up!

“Thank you for all your lovely messages and thank you so much again to the NHS.”

Fans were quick to post messages of support in the comments underneath and wished her a speedy

One wrote: “My thoughts and prayers for a safe recovery. You are an amazing young lady. I know you’ll put through xxx.”

Another commented: “Take care sweetie! Thousands if not millions of prayers and well wishes are coming your way!”

A third said: “Sorry to hear this Janet! I hope you get better soon and lots of rest. You’re making sure to eat right and have been having plenty of fluids right? It’s been rather hot and these things are often forgotten. Sending you hugs.”

“Sounds like you may need an event monitor for your heart!” a fourth chimed in. “Usually worn for 30 days to see what’s happening. I hope you feel better soon and figure out what’s happening quickly! Take care of yourself!!!”

While a fifth added: “Get well soon, slow down and have a we break. Work comes second, health comes first.”

Janet first shot to fame in 2011 after she appeared on The X Factor, reaching the live quarter-finals.

Last year she starred in a BBC documentary called Young, Female and Addicted, in which she spoke about her addictions to alcohol and sleeping pills.
