A weather expert has revealed when heavy showers are due to hit Ireland, however temperatures are set to soar into the high 20s after the wet spell.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather informed that weather models are continuing to show an "unsettled outlook" from Saturday bringing with it a risk of "heavy showers" in an end to what has been a two-week mini-heatwave of mainly blue skies.
Despite the potentially wet weekend ahead, Mr O'Reilly pointed to some very positive news for the country after that.

"Weather models continue to show unsettled outlook from Saturday with risk of heavy showers but amounts generally don’t look too high. The ECMWF model also showing a chance of much warmer air moving up next week which could bring temperatures into high twenties but uncertain yet," he said, posting to his popular Twitter page.
Met Éireann stated that Saturday will be generally cloudy with showers moving up from the south to all areas through the morning and afternoon. Some of the showers may be heavy at times too, however it will be quite mild, with highest temperatures of 18C to 25C, coolest in the south.
For Saturday night, the Irish weather service said: "A cloudy and wet night in store as showers continue to move over the country during the evening but they will gradually clear overnight."
For Sunday, they said there will be a mix of cloud and isolated showers but there will be some occasional sunny spells at times too, with temperatures between 20C and 24C.
"Looking ahead to Monday and it looks to be unsettled with a mix of cloud and showers but again some isolated sunny spells at times too. Staying warm however with highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees generally," they added.
