Irish tourists could be slapped with a major fine for going to "illegal parties" in Spain's most popular holiday hotspots.
Authorities have said that there has been a number of serious accidents at parties in villas and private homes that do not meet safety standards.
Owners of such properties will be fined between €100,000 and €300,000 as per new regulations that come into effect this summer.

Meanwhile, revellers could be fined up to a total of €30,000 for attending such gatherings in Ibiza.
Additionally, a "six drinks a day" rule is set to come into force at all-inclusive resorts in the Balearic Islands, including parts of Playa de Palma, El Arenal, Magaluf, the West End of Sant Antoni de Portmany, and Ibiza.
This means guests will only be allowed to have three alcoholic drinks during lunchtime and three in the evening at these hotels.
Additionally, open bars and happy hours have been banned along with any adverts that promote alcohol consumption in tourist spots including party boats or pub crawl events.
Furthermore, self-service dispensers and off-licences will be closed from 9.30pm to 8am every day.
Holidaymakers who break these rules could be fined between €1,000 and €6,000.
Additionally, tourist establishments that are found in breach of the law may have to pay between €60,000 to €600,000 and could even face closure for up to three years.
