An Irish football fan has been handed a lifetime match ban from Leeds United following an incident outside Anfield.
The man, who is described as a 24-year-old from Dundalk, Ireland, was arrested by Merseyside Police on suspicion of a public order offence, causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress. The Leeds United fan had travelled to Anfield, for the Premier League match between Liverpool FC and Leeds United on Saturday, October 29.
As a result of his arrest, the man received a police caution reports the Liverpool Echo. Leeds United have now confirmed that the man has also been given a lifetime match ban by the club.

A spokesperson for Leeds United said they were made aware a man, in his 20s, was arrested before the Premier League match. They confirmed that they were also made aware that it wasn't the man's first alleged offence. As a result, he has been given a lifetime ban from attending Leeds United games.
A statement reads: "Leeds United FC takes the behaviour of fans very seriously whether they are in attendance at matches being played at home or away. As a result of our investigation we have banned the individual.
"He is banned from attending any Leeds United fixtures, home and away permanently. Leeds United does not condone this behaviour, it does not represent our club, and so persons who behave in such a way receive sanctions."
The FA has also released a statement regarding the rise in Hillsborough chants, a spokesperson said: "We are very concerned about the rise in abhorrent chants in stadiums that are related to the Hillsborough disaster and other football related tragedies. These chants are highly offences and are deeply upsetting for the families, friends and communities who have been impacted by these devastating events, and we strongly condemn this behaviour.
"We support clubs and fans who try to stamp out this behaviour from our game. We also support the excellent work of the survivor groups who engage with the stakeholders across football to help educated people about the damaging and lasting effects that these terrible chants can have."
