Irish rugby star Conor Murray marries Derry model Joanna Cooper in luxury Algarve resort

Ireland and Munster rugby ace Conor Murray got married to his long-time partner, Derry model Joanna Cooper, this week.

The couple tied the knot on Bank Holiday Monday at Pine Cliffs, a luxury resort and spa in the Algarve, alongside their family and friends.

Sharing pictures on social media on Tuesday, Derry native Joanna, 29, the 2015 Miss Universe Ireland, simply wrote: "Here’s to forever."

Meanwhile, Murray, 34, commented on his own Instagram account: "Best day of our lives."

Model Joanna wore a lacy white gown, with a sweetheart neckline and high leg slit, with her hair back in a sleek high bun, reports RSVP Live.

The model had her face painted by Charlotte Tilbury pro artist Kirstie Murphy for her big day.

Joanna previously opened up about choosing her wedding dress and highly recommended the shop she purchased it from.

She picked a boutique in Northern Ireland for her gown, and shared on social media: “I went to the wedding club in London and then Verona Bridal in Magherafelt and bought my dress here - they were so lovely to deal with and had gorgeous designers.

"If you are in the south The One By Sinead Corcorcan is another beautiful shop in Dublin with loads of choice.”

Joanna and Conor announced their engagement back in March 2022, after four years of dating, as the rugby player popped the question on their holiday in Dubai.

They began dating in 2018 after meeting each other on a night out in London, England.

There was an initial attraction between the pair, but the model explained that it wasn’t love at first sight.

However, the beginning of their romance wasn’t easy as they had to have a long distance relationship.

Joanna was living in London pursuing a career in modelling, with her working with popular brands like ASOS.

Conor was based back in Ireland as he was training with the Munster and Ireland teams.
