Irish restaurant hits back at bad review to 'clarify facts' after claim customer was 'turned away'

A Cork City restaurant has hit back at a reviewer online after they claimed to have been turned away when the restaurant was “half empty”.

The owner of the establishment says they were “not going to apologise” and said they would “like to clarify facts” so that anyone reading the review would know what had happened.

The Mediterranean joint - Nosta - took to the internet to respond to the woman who gave them a bad review by telling her she had arrived on one of the busiest nights of the year without a reservation.

According to the review, she went to the restaurant in Cork over the Christmas period, and was told there were no tables available despite the place appearing to be "half empty".

She suggested in her post that the fact she was eating solo may have been a reason for her refusal, and said: "Considering there were at least 4 empty tables I was amazed and queried this. The waitress just shrugged and said it wasn’t up to her."

The restaurant was not impressed with the review, and the owner got back to her to say they were "99 percent booked out for the night" and there simply weren't any tables available as people were due to arrive at them soon.

They replied: "I'm not going to apologise that we were full and we couldn’t accommodate you for a reason but also I would like to clarify few facts.

"You arrived without a reservation on one of the busiest nights of the year, we were 99% booked out for the night.

“There was no single occupancy tables available at the time and you were offered a table outside which you rejected and then start questioning why can’t you have this table that table so on, we told you they were reserved.

"We’re trying to make everyone feel welcome and happy but sometimes there’s one who never gets satisfied. Anyway, Happy Christmas & happy new year to you!"
