Irish Restaurant Awards: Eleven Northern Irish spots take top accolades at ceremony

Northern Ireland's thriving hospitality industry was well represented at the annual Irish Restaurant Awards on Monday.

A total of eleven pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels were recognised for their work across Ulster.

The Irish Restaurant Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the existing, and up and coming talent, in the sector.

The Dirty Duck Alehouse in Holywood Co Down did not only get awarded 'Gastro Pub of the Year 2023' for Ulster, but it was also the only NI venue to rank on top of its category and take home the All Ireland prize.

A record-breaking 130,000 public nominations were received for the awards, that are in their 14th year.

The NI winners of the Irish Restaurant Awards are:

  • Best Chef - Ulster - Ian Orr of Bonds Hill, Derry
  • Best Casual Dining - Ulster - Edo, Belfast
  • Pub of the Year - Ulster - Maghera Inn, Down
  • Newcomer of the Year - Ulster - Roam, Belfast
  • Best Gastro Pub - All Ireland - Dirty Duck Alehouse, Down
  • Best Wine Experience - Ulster - Wine & Brine, Armagh
  • Best Cafe - Ulster - Pickled Duck Cafe, Derry
  • Best Restaurant Manager - Ulster - Saul McConnell of Noble, Down
  • Best Emerging Irish Cuisine - Ulster - The Banks, Tyrone
  • Innovator of the Year - Ulster - Frae, Armagh
  • Best Sustainable Practices - Ulster - Killeavy Castle Estate
