Irish Rail hiring workers in Dublin with some great benefits on offer

Irish Rail is currently recruiting a number of staff for their Dublin operations.

The national transport company is hiring a number of qualified Electrical, Mechanical, and Vehicle Body Repair Craftworkers. Successful applicants will be working at Irish Rail's workshops and depots in Inchicore and Connolly.

The job description says Irish Rail is offering a competitive salary as well as benefits such as a welfare and pension scheme, reduced fares to work, supportive and progressive Work Life Balance initiatives, and potential future progression to varied and interesting career paths.

To qualify for the job you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • FETAC Level 6 accreditation or equivalent including but not limited to Solas (formally FÁS) apprenticeship or City & Guilds apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the trade area post apprenticeship or relevant experience within a similar industry
  • Applicants will be cross-skilled and will be required to work on all vehicle systems and components on various train fleets in a busy environment
  • Proven experience in maintenance of electrical systems, industrial equipment or transport equipment (Electrical Craftworker only)
  • Ability to read drawings, follow detailed work instructions and procedures

  • Interest in ensuring the quality of work standards are high / Strong attention to detail
  • Problem-solving/fault-finding skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numerical ability
