Irish news headlines: Gardai hunt gunman, Met Eireann's 'tropical' forecast and RTE's Tubs takes aim at Varadkar

A man was shot in the face in west Dublin on Friday afternoon.

The man, aged in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the shooting incident in Clondalkin at around 5pm.

Gardai have preserved the scene as they make enquiries but no arrests have been made.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area to come forward and help with the investigation.

A garda spokesperson said: "Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. In particular, anyone who was in the Cherrywood Grove area of Clondalkin and surrounding roads between 5pm – 5.30pm and anyone who may have been in Corkagh Park at these times and who may have information is asked to come forward.

Met Eireann's tropical weather change

The national forecaster is predicting "tropical air" to arrive later in April with Ireland potentially due some warm weather - although rain could ruin things.

Met Eireann's long range forecast says: "In week 2 low pressure will continue to dominate but there is a signal for some milder tropical air to be introduced over the country, bringing with it above average rainfalls, with the highest amounts in the west and south. It will be milder and cloudy with above average temperatures and night frosts unlikely.

"Into week 3 we will still be in a low pressure dominance, with milder tropical air remaining over the country, with slightly above average rainfall and temperatures expected. Looks to remain fairly cloudy with rain at times but indications are that extreme events are unlikely."

Tubs takes dig at Leo Varadkar

The host said: "Welcome all the loyal viewers at home, I also want to acknowledge the shyer, quieter, secret Late Late watchers, you know who you are, ones who pretend they don't tune in but secretly they love it, you know who I mean, the Leo's, the Geminis, the Aries of this great nation, you're with friends it's ok, enjoy it we're good company, we're family."

The crowd were in stitches at the gag with those on social media praising the host for "taking a swing" at the Tanaiste.

During the week, Leo said: "I will never forget watching Normal People during that first lockdown. And even nights in every Friday watching the Late Late Show which is something I never did before and don't have to do again."
