Irish Love Island star says show was 'too controlling' as she recalls 'weird rules'

Ex-Love Island star Kaila Troy has said the show was "too controlling" for her.

And the Dubliner – who arrived at Casa Amor - admitted the series had too many "weird rules."

Responding to a Q&A from a fan who asked on Instagram "How would you describe Love Island", she replied: "For me a long ting (sic).

"5 months away from home and 6 weeks in holding, not being able to do anything.

"But the lead up to the show is exciting and fun. The press runs, photo shoots, commercial shoots.

"But once u start filming and go inside it’s way too controlling for me and a long ting (sic) to many weird rules."

Kaila previously told how they lived in a "squashy" villa with not enough food to go around, saying it was a "waste of her time" going on the show.

In 2022, she said: "The food isn't really that great. I remember the boys were taking so much food, I mean like two to three chickens, overstocking on their plate. And then when I got there, there was no chicken left!

"I remember thinking, 'These greedy f***ers!' The guys, where the f*** are your manners?

"Liam (Reardon) was lovely. He said to me, 'Kaila, just take my chicken off my plate'. Some of the other guys didn't give a f*** whether somebody else ate or not.

"That was annoying and then I felt like every day I was a nag to the people on site saying, 'I have no food again'."

Kaila added: "I'm a pure example of they don't show what happens in the villa because they barely showed me.

"It was crazy because I was having loads of conversations with everyone, I'm very sociable and I have a character.

"I found it funny. They had me waiting for six weeks, they flew me from America to not show me. What was the point? A lot of wasted money and time," she said at the time.
