Irish passengers heading to Portugal over the coming weeks may be faced with cancellations amid the chaos expected during worker strikes across ten airports.
Civil aviation workers from two Portuguese unions have revealed plans to walk out from August 19 until August 21.
If the strike action goes ahead, disruption will likely impact all airports controlled by the country’s largest operator, ANA, including popular destinations Lisbon, Porto, and Faro.

In a joint statement, Portugal's Civil Aviation Workers' Union and the Commercial Aviation Staff Union demanded wage increases for their workers.
"Only by doing this we will be able to achieve what the company has been lacking for a long time: social stability, respect for workers' rights and, fundamentally, for people," it said.
The proposed walkout will affect airports on one of the busiest weekends in the year, as holidaymakers travel to Portugal for the final weeks of summer.
The airports operated by ANA are Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, Ponta Delgada, Horta, Santa Maria, Flores, and Beja.
Seen as Faro airport is the go-to airport for anyone headed to the Algarve - used by most Irish tourists - many are being warned weeks in advance to expect disruption.
Negotiations to halt the strike are ongoing at the moment, the ANA said in a statement.
"ANA will continue to promote dialogue with social partners and will continue the ongoing negotiation," it read.
Further information on whether or not workers will go ahead with the strikes will likely come over the next few days.
