Irish and American diplomats hold meetings with Dubai authorities in bid to get Kinahans booted out

Irish and American diplomats have held top level meetings with the authorities in Dubai to try and get the Kinahans kicked out of the emirate.

It is understood that the Irish embassy in Abu Dhabi has been heavily involved in the campaign which the Government is confident will eventually succeed.

A Foreign Affairs source said; "The Kinahans have invested substantial funds in Dubai and Government officials there have been slow to move against them.

"They are hiding behind the excuse that there is no extradition agreement behind Ireland and Dubai. However attitudes are starting to change and as soon as the Kinahans become what is perceived as a political problem for the United Arab Emirates, they will kick them out.

"The Americans are also piling on the pressure, especially the Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA). Both ourselves and the Americans are working closely to see the Kinahan Crime Organisation brought down and all its leaders face justice.

"The house of cards is starting to fall down around the Kinahans and we really believe we will catch them very soon."

Christy KInahan Snr and his sons Danial and Christy Jnr have been living in Dubai for the past several years. They have hired Russian bodyguards to protect them.

The Americans have put a five million dollar reward on each of the Kinahans and set up a hotline for anyone with information about them. The email account is monitored 24 hours a day.

The DEA said in a statement yesterday; "The search for the Kinahans remains an active investigation. The Kinahan tip line is active and we welcome information from the public."

The Irish Government source added; "Catching the Kinahans is one of the top priorities of the Government. The Americans are the key to all of this.

"All our diplomats in the Gulf are working tirelessly to persuade the Dubai regime that these criminals should not be allowed to hide out there. We believe they are finally starting to see sense. We are quite happy for the KInahan ringleaders to be tried in America so long as they are taken down."
