Irish actress, Hannah Rose May, took to social media recently to warn people after someone placed ‘a coin-sized’ device on her to track where she was going.
The star, best known for her role in the US TV show, ‘Ballers,’ said an Apple Air Tag was placed on her on the way into Disneyland and tracked her for two hours before her phone alerted her to the fact that she was being followed by the device.
Taking to Twitter she explained that “An apple AirTag was put on me to track my location Saturday night.

“I’m sharing what happened to me so you know what to look for as I had never heard of this prior to Saturday night.”
Speaking about the evening it occurred, she said: “I was at an after hours event at Disneyland from 11:45pm to 2am.
“I got a “Find My” notification at the end of the night that I didn’t think anything of it but opened it anyway and it turned out to be this… someone had been tracking me for two hours.”
She then posted an image of the map, that showed where the culprit had tracked her to and from.
“This map shows when it started tracking me up until I got the safety alert and I was able to disable it.”
In her account she said she was fortunate enough to have been alerted to the device tracking her movement before driving to her home that night.
“Fortunately for me, I was able to disable it right before driving home. And I never wandered alone, to get a drink or use the bathroom. I stayed with a group,” she said.
Airtags were created by Apple as a fast way to find keys, suitcases, handbags and other personal belongings when they go missing, however, it seems that they are now also being used for more sinister reasons.
Hannah said: “Airtags are the size of a coin. It’s scary how easy they are to slip into a pocket or purse. Originally created to locate your keys it’s evident they are being used for more bad than good.”
She then concluded by saying: “The happiest place on earth could of very easily turned into my worst nightmare.”
“I shared this on Instagram and have numerous DMs from people who have found AirTags on them. This clearly isn’t uncommon especially in LA atm. Stay safe everyone. Be diligent.”
According to Apple, “If any AirTag, AirPods, or other Find My network accessory separated from its owner is seen moving with you over time, you'll be notified in one of two ways.
“These features were created specifically to discourage people from trying to track you without your knowledge. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, Find My will send a notification to your Apple device. “
This feature is available on iOS or iPadOS 14.5 or later. To receive alerts, make sure that you:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and turn Location Services on.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. Turn Find My iPhone on.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. Turn Significant Locations on to be notified when you arrive at a significant location, such as your home.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and turn Bluetooth on.
- Go to the Find My app, tap the Me tab, and turn Tracking Notifications on.
- Turn off airplane mode. If your device is in airplane mode, you won't receive tracking notifications.
“If you don't have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, an AirTag that isn't with its owner for a period of time will emit a sound when it's moved.
“If you detect an unknown AirTag, Find My network accessory, or AirPods, use the steps below to learn about it, find it, and disable it.
“If you're using an Android device, you can download the Tracker Detect app to find an AirTag or Find My network accessory that's separated from its owner and might be traveling with you.”
