The country is in for a washout weekend according to forecasters before finally brightening up once again next week as high-pressure rebuilds.
According to weather expert, Alan O’Reilly, “The weekend still looking showery but uncertainty around the details. Most in agreement that it will settle down again next week.”
It’ll be dry and bright for most areas tomorrow morning with warm sunny spells, but clouds will increase during the afternoon, especially in Munster and Connacht with outbreaks of light rain or drizzle developing there towards evening.

The outlook for the week ahead, according to the Irish forecaster will see things “Turning unsettled with windier and wetter conditions for the weekend and early next week, and temperatures remaining around normal.”
Saturday will see outbreaks of rain moving northwards across the country on Saturday morning.
There will be some drier and brighter intervals developing, however, further falls of rain will follow through the afternoon, turning heavy over the north in the evening.
Sunday will also be a wet and breezy day with widespread showers. Heavy falls are expected in parts of Connacht and Ulster during the day, but some warm sunny spells may break out also between showers.
Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees are expected, with the best values across the eastern half of the sountry.
Heading into next week, Monday will bring cloudy conditions with plenty of showers to start the day.
However, drier weather and some clear spells will develop in the evening with highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.
As for forecasts further afield, Met Eireann says: “Current indications suggest that high pressure will build midweek, leading to dry settled conditions.”
