Ireland weather update: Met Eireann forecast shows when double storm will hit your area and the most likely to get snow

Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice will hit Ireland over the coming days as many counties are on alert for torrential conditions.

Rain, gale-force wind, and snow will batter many areas across the country until the storms have passed.

There is a countrywide warning in place for Ireland as wind speeds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with damaging gusts of 80 to 110km/h, which will be stronger on exposed coasts and on high ground.

Then, a wind, rain, and snow warning comes into effect from Friday for Ireland with disruption expected. Follow live updates in our weather blog.

As both storms track over Ireland, here is what to expect in each region and which countries can expect the worst conditions:

Leinster

Wednesday will be very windy with strong and very gusty west to southwest winds across Leinster counties.

There will be outbreaks of heavy rain at first, which may cause spot flooding, but the rain will gradually clear to well-scattered showers later this afternoon and this evening.

Tonight will be very windy with strong and very gusty westerly winds, but they will ease a bit towards morning.

Scattered blustery showers will persist through the night with lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees.

Thursday will start out windy as well with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds, however, winds will decrease moderate to fresh and gusty through the day.

Good sunny spells will develop along with scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet, and possibly snow - particularly in Dublin, Meath, and Kildare.

Cloud will build from the southwest in the evening ahead of the rain and strengthening winds from Storm Eunice.

According to the Irish forecaster, “there is still some uncertainty in the finer details on the exact track of Storm Eunice it will be wet and potentially very windy, especially over the south of the country where there could be some severe gusts.

“Heavy rain will push in from the southwest too bringing risks of spot flooding.

“While the rain will transition to sleet and snow over predominantly the north and northwest of the country, with accumulations possible.”

Friday will be very windy at first, especially in the south, with widespread heavy rain along with continued falls of sleet and snow.

Storm Eunice will clear away through the morning and early afternoon and winds will slowly begin to ease.

Very cold showery conditions will follow and some of these showers will be of sleet and snow, most frequent over the western half of the country, there is also a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
