An Irish weather expert has warned that lightning is set to strike twice in the space of just two days.
Thunderstorms battered much of the East coast of Ireland on Monday, with flights disrupted at Dublin Airport as reports of aggressive lightning strikes were shared across social media.
Lightning began between Thurles and Clonmel on Monday evening, moving its way to the capital and the east of the country, where some flights circled the Irish Sea near Dublin Airport, while others were diverted to Shannon.

At the time, Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly said: "Intense thunderstorm over Dublin now!"
The adverse conditions, at their worst around 7-8pm, caused a power outage to an ESB network for people living in the Tullow area of Carlow, while one video captured appears to show damage that a lightning strike caused to the roof of a house in Tallaght, Dublin.
Another video captured and shared on social media shows lightning strikes over Kilmainham in Dublin.
The thunderstorms began to clear east around 8.15pm last night, occurring only off the coast for a short period before tempering off, with brief sunny spells emerging before sundown.
Mr O'Reilly has warned that lightning is set to strike twice as further thunderstorms are expected to hit the east coast once again this Tuesday, at an even earlier time than the night before.
On Monday night, he wrote: "Risk of thunderstorms once again tomorrow, developing in afternoon with East at highest risk again. A little earlier than today, clearing East by around 7pm."
Met Éireann has also indicated the possibility of thundery conditions this Tuesday, with sunny spells and showers expected, particularly in the west of the country across the day.
While there is no official weather warning, the national forecaster stated: "The showers will be mostly in the west and southwest at first, but they will spread eastwards this morning becoming widespread for a time, some heavy and possibly thundery."
