Ireland weather: Met Eireann warn of changes as expert urges people not to 'put away the jumpers' yet

Met Éireann have warned that despite high temperatures and sunny spells dominating Ireland every day for the rest of the week, things are set to take a bit of a turn once the sun goes down.

The national forecaster has given us some good news with their latest forecast issued on Tuesday morning, as we're going to continue to bask in the wonderful sunshine we've had in the last few days.

But once darkness falls, it's going to swing entirely the other way - leading a weather expert to warn the public "don't put away the jumpers yet."

Tuesday is set to be very similar to the bank holiday weekend, with plenty of sunshine allowing us to boost our Vitamin D levels.

The forecast explains: "It will be mainly dry and increasingly sunny with just isolated showers during the late morning and early afternoon. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, reaching 17 degrees locally, highest away from east and south facing coasts. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will ease later."

However, we get the first indication of a change on Tuesday night.

"Lowest temperatures generally of 3 to 6 degrees, dipping close freezing locally in the midlands with a touch of grass frost." the forecast warns.

Wednesday will be much the same, with "highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees," but a mostly clear sky at night leads to "lowest temperatures of 3 or 4 degrees with light variable or southerly winds. Grass frost will form in parts with mist and fog patches around dawn."

Thursday and Friday are looking good, as are the early indications for the weekend, but it's what's coming up in the last week of March that has led Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather to issue a cheeky update!

"A fine week of weather ahead and mild too but enjoy the heat as some weather models showing a risk of a cold blast around the end of the month. Don’t put away the big jumpers just yet" he tweeted.
