Ireland weather: Met Eireann's unusual forecast and 'high risk' warning as 'mini heatwave' continues

The current spell of good weather shows no sign of cooling down as Met Eireann's forecast for the days ahead indicates "little change" is on the way.

The national forecaster's predictions for the week ahead are unusual insofar as there is little deviation between the forecast each day.

Temperatures will remain high at 15C to 17C during the daytime, while the mercury will dip overnight to lows of 1C.

It comes as a Department of Agriculture warning alerting the public over the risk of fires as a result of the current weather patterns remains in place.

A status orange high fire risk warning is in place until 12pm on Monday.

It states: "Arising from current weather patterns a high fire risk is deemed to exist in all areas where hazardous fuels such as dead grasses and shrub fuels such as heather and gorse exist."

Sunday will be another mainly dry day with spells of spring sunshine. It will be slightly cloudier in Munster at times in the afternoon however, with isolated showers developing here.

Highest temperatures will range from a fairly pleasant 13 to 17C. It will be mildest in the west, but once again feeling a little cooler along Irish Sea coasts, in mostly moderate easterly winds.

Most areas will be dry on Sunday night with clear spells - just a few light showers in southern counties early on. Cool with lowest temperatures of 3 to 6C. Northeast breezes will be mostly light to moderate in strength. Some mist or fog may form locally.
