Met Eireann’s latest forecast for the week ahead shows a major divide in conditions for those living in the West and North compared to the South and East.
The best of the upcoming dry and mild conditions will be felt by those living in Leinster and Munster, while further west and north will see plenty of rain across the next five days.
The outlook for the week in general suggests that it will mostly be “quite settled early in the week with just occasional spells of mostly light rain and drizzle.

“Temperatures near or above the February average. More changeable and unsettled conditions are possible later in the week”.
It’ll be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells on Monday, however, there will just be a few scattered outbreaks of light rain or drizzle in Atlantic coastal counties.
Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees are expected in mostly moderate southerly winds, fresh on Atlantic coasts.
On Monday night things will turn mostly cloudy with a weak band of patchy light rain extending from the northwest through the night.
As the rain clears the northwest towards morning, drier clearer conditions will develop. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, or locally lower where clear spells persist initially in the southeast and later in the northwest once the rain clears as light southwest winds veer northerly.
On Tuesday, the cloud and patchy rain will only gradually clear towards the southeast through the day, but will linger in the southeast in the evening.
Dry and bright conditions will follow, the best of which will be in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees as light variable winds fall calm locally.
Tuesday night will remain cloudier in the southeast with a few isolated patches of rain or drizzle, mostly dry with a mix of clear spells and cloudier conditions but mostly dry.
It will become cloudier nationwide towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees generally, with a touch of frost possible in the north and west. Light southerly winds will increase moderate towards morning.
On Wednesday, things will stay predominantly dry and cloudy for much of the day. Moderate southerly winds will freshen through the day before rain begins to extend in from the west through the evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Aband of rain will quickly cross the country early in the night on Wednesday with clear spells following along with a few showers in northern parts.
Fresh southwest winds will veer westerly and moderate as the rain clears, turning colder too with lowest temperatures dipping to between 0 to 4 degrees generally, with the chance of some frost development possible.
Thursday will see scattered showers continue in the northwest otherwise it will be a mostly dry sunny day, feeling cool though with highs of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate northwest winds.
After Thursday of this, things will “Remain changeable through the weekend with wet and blustery conditions at times”.
