Ireland is 'likely' to see temperatures of 30C on Thursday before a potential record-breaking weekend arrives.
Heatwave conditions have swept across the country in recent days, with the majority of the island not dropping below 20C in the day and then sweltering through the night as well.
That's not set to change until at least Monday either, as the latest Met Éireann update suggests that we could be in for a bit of history.
Having seen highs of 29C in parts on Wednesday, Thursday is "likely" to see the 30C mark surpassed.
Met Éireann explain: "Very warm with sea breezes developing this afternoon, otherwise there will be little wind. Highest temperatures generally between 24 to 29 degrees, but likely to reach 30 degrees in localised parts of Leinster and Munster."
It's Friday where we could see a record smashed.
Anyone who lived through the summer of 1995 will remember how horrifically warm it was at times - the warmest summer Ireland had had in over 100 years, with a high temperatures of 31.5C in August.
Well, Met Éireann's Friday forecast reads: "Friday will be a hot and sunny day with highest temperatures generally between 25 to 30 degrees, possibly reaching the low 30s in a few inlands spots of Leinster or Munster. Not as warm near coasts, with sea breezes developing in the afternoon."
After that, it's much of the same for Saturday, with 'muggy' conditions in store for the next couple of days.
Thankfully, it does appear the air will break on Sunday with the arrival of thunderstorms and heavy showers to bring things back to normal.
Met Éireann explain: "Hot, dry and sunny again on Saturday, with a light northeast breeze. Highest temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees, possibly exceeding 30 degrees in a few inland spots. Slight chance of an isolated shower developing too.
"Sunday is expected to start dry and sunny however cloud may build in some areas during the day, bringing possible heavy showers or thundery downpours to parts. Very warm with light winds, highs in the mid to high 20s. Sunday night will be rather warm and muggy with possible showers."
