Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecasts stunning few days before grim change for the weekend

Met Eireann has predicted a stunning week ahead with high temperatures and sunny conditions before an unwelcome change just in time for the weekend.

In its latest forecast, it looks as if most of the country is in for dry conditions midweek, followed by the arrival of a low-pressure system bringing wet weather from Friday onwards.

Today (Tuesday) will be dry and bright with sunny spells, but there will be some light isolated showers in Ulster with highest temperatures ranging from 18 to 23 degrees - coolest along the eastern coast with a light to moderate easterly airflow.

Wednesday will be another dry day with good sunny spells and just a minor chance of an isolated shower for some. Highest temperatures will hit 22 degrees and will be warmest away from the east coast.

After a dry and sunny morning on Thursday, some clouds will build with well-scattered showers developing in the afternoon - making way for heavy showers across the weekend.

Many areas will remain dry with sunny spells and highest temperatures are due to range from 17 to 22 degrees with light easterly breezes.

Then on Friday, outbreaks of rain will push in from the west during the day and could turn heavier over the western half of the country in the afternoon.

The east will have a mix of showers and sunny spells before rain arrives in the evening with highest daytime temperatures of 22 degrees. It’ll be most pleasant in Leinster, but will be cooler in parts of the north and west.

Rain is due to continue overnight for most, but western and southwestern counties will likely be driest.

As for the current outlook across the weekend, the Irish forecaster says: “Low pressure near Ireland will bring showers and longer spells of rain throughout the weekend, rain will likely be heavy at times in some areas. Highest temperatures in the mid to high teens. Winds generally light to moderate in strength.”
