This morning is a stark change on the 27.7C recorded in Phoenix Park on Monday, however all summer hope is not lost.
Despite the grim conditions being seen this morning, brighter weather will follow later this afternoon, along with sunny spells that will extend from the west into the evening.
Maximum temperatures will hit 23 degrees as light southwest winds gradually veer northwest as the rain or drizzle clears.
There will be clear spells overnight - setting the tone for the rest of the week, with just a few light showers.
It’ll be largely dry on Wednesday across Leinster and Munster, with long spells of sunshine, however, there will be scattered showers in Connacht and Ulster - along with some sunny spells.
Top temperatures will reach 22 degrees, and will be warmest in the southeast, with light to moderate westerly winds.
It will be generally dry early on Thursday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, however, it looks set to become mostly cloudy later in the day with patchy rain affecting parts of the west and north with Hiighest temperatures of 22 degrees.
As the weekend moves closer, Friday will see a good deal of cloud around early on with the chance of some light showers or drizzle in parts of the west and north.
It will begin to clear up later on with the best chance of sunshine in the east and south. Top temperatures ranging 19 to 24 degrees, warmest in the east of the country in a moderate southwest breeze.
On Saturday, the high temperatures of summer will return even though it looks to bring scattered showers interspersed with sunny spells.
It’ll be a stunningly warm day with highest temperatures of 25 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.
As for further afield, the Irish forecaster says: “Sunday and early next week look to bring plenty of dry and warm weather, with daytime maximum temperatures possibly reaching the high 20's.”
