Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast stunning change with the arrival of 20C summer heat

Met Eireann has forecast a week of washout conditions for many regions ahead of a major change in temperatures.

The wet weather is set to continue for days to come, but by the end of this week, some counties will reach a stunning 20C.

This morning will be mainly dry and mostly cloudy with some patches of mist, fog, and drizzle. It will gradually brighten up with sunny spells and some scattered showers developing this afternoon.

Tonight will bring clear spells for some while others are in for further showers - mainly over the eastern half of the country.

Tuesday morning will be mainly dry, but there will be some showers in the east of the country.

The afternoon will bring more rain-filled clouds with outbreaks developing in the west and spreading eastwards through the evening.

Highest temperatures will range from 13 to 17 degrees with light west to northwest breezes.

That night, temperatures will drop to lows of 9 degrees and it will be mostly cloudy with rain and drizzle spreading eastwards across the country.

The early hours of Wednesday morning will continue to be cloudy with scattered light showers, which are due to die out by 12:00 pm in most areas.

The afternoon and evening will be brighter with some sunshine and highest temperatures ranging from 14 to 18 degrees with light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

The rain will however continue in some areas overnight into Thursday, with the day starting off mostly cloudy with some showers - but there will be brighter intervals also.

Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 17 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds, but there will be further outbreaks of rain on Thursday night.

On Friday, Outbreaks of rain will gradually clear eastwards and it will brighten up with sunshine and a few showers, as the weekend approaches.

Highest temperatures will increase again to range from 14 to 18 or 19 degrees with light northwest breezes.

As for Saturday and Sunday this week, the Irish forecaster says: “It looks like the weekend will be mainly dry with sunny spells, light breezes and temperatures in the high teens and possibly touching 20 degrees at times.”
