Met Eireann has issued its forecast for the week ahead, and while the freezing temperatures that were in place recently are not set to return, rain and showers will dominate the week ahead - with isolated thunderstorms coming for one day.
In its weekly outlook, the national forecast said that for the week coming the weather would be “generally unsettled with rain and showers at times.”
However, while the weather might be a washout, temperatures are set to rise. At no point over the next week does it drop to freezing, with the highest temperatures reaching up to 14 degrees on some days.
According to Met Eireann, Sunday will “start off dry with some sunny spells. Rain will develop in the west during the morning and spread eastwards to all areas through the afternoon.”
The highest temperatures for Sunday will be between eight and 10 degrees with moderate south to southeast breezes.
On Sunday night, the rain will continue and will be most persistent over the northern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of four to seven degrees with moderate southerly breezes.
Starting into the week, Monday will be “mostly cloudy with further spells of rain, which will clear to the northeast in the evening with showers following through the evening and night, especially over Connacht and Ulster with isolated thunderstorms possible.”
The highest temperatures on Monday will be between 11 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh, south to southwest winds.
Tuesday is set to bring a “fair amount of dry weather with some bright intervals and well-scattered showers.”
The highest temperatures on Tuesday will be between 11 to 14 degrees with moderate southerly breezes. Rain will spread eastwards on Tuesday night.
Wednesday will start off wet with rain in most areas, Met Eireann added that “the rain will clear with showers following. Highest temperatures of eight to 11 degrees with moderate southerly breezes.”
The rest of the week will continue unsettled with spells of rain or showers. Highest temperatures of nine to 12 degrees.
