Ireland is set to see some warm and sunny conditions today as temperatures rise to 20 degrees in most parts.
However, as the day continues, the rain will slowly extend east and south, becoming widespread by Thursday morning.
A drop in temperatures is expected to arrive next week as a band of cooler air moves across Ireland.

"A very short blast of cooler air forecast to move down next week. Many will be hoping to see less of the blue on these charts over the coming months with the cost of heating and as we head towards winter it is important to remember that long range forecasts are generally poor," said a forecaster.
They added: "Wednesday will see some nice sunny spells again, especially in the morning in Eastern areas. Temperatures rising up to 19c or 20c but cooler in Northwest. Winds increasing too with strong breeze increasing through the afternoon."

Today, September 21
Mainly dry and sunny for most places today, it'll be cloudy across Connacht and west Ulster with rain and drizzle there in the afternoon, turning persistent in the evening.
Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with southerly winds increasing moderate to fresh.
Becoming breezy tonight with rain in the west slowly extending east and south to become widespread by morning. The rain will be heavy and persistent, with a chance of local spot flooding.
Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh south or southwest winds.
Thursday, September 22
After a wet start for many, dry and sunny weather in the west and northwest will extend south and east, slowly clearing the rain by early afternoon.
Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with fresh southwest winds, veering northwest with the clearing rain and easing.
Thursday night will be mainly dry and clear. It will be noticeably colder with the lowest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees and light to moderate northwesterly winds. Some mist and fog may form.
Friday, September 23
Any fog patches will clear on Friday morning, leaving a dry and sunny day. Showers will develop on the west and north coasts, with a risk of a few inland in the afternoon.
Highest temperatures ranging from 14 to 17 degrees in a moderate northwest breeze.
Dry and clear overnight Friday night, there will be showers on the Atlantic coasts.
Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.
Saturday, September 24
Mainly dry with sunny spells on Saturday and just a few passing showers.
Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 17 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.
Dry overnight with some mist or fog patches forming under primarily clear skies.
Cold with lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in light variable breezes.
Sunday, September 25
Mainly dry on Sunday, it is expected to turn cloudy with isolated showers in the afternoon, giving way to rain on in the northwest later in the day.
Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
Current indications suggest a spell of rain on Sunday night will introduce a cold northerly airflow on Monday.
