Ireland is set for a cold snap to blast the country from Wednesday as the last of the good weather fades to make way for a much colder air mass.
Met Eireann has predicted that sunny spells will remain today before giving way to widespread shattered showers.
Wednesday will mark a huge change in conditions as Wicklow will see the worst of the wintry showers.

A forecaster said: “While it will turn cold from Wednesday the latest snow depth charts only really show snow for the Wicklow Mountains here in Ireland. Very little rainfall expected up to Sunday then a risk of a band of rain on Sunday but track is uncertain.”
A cold chill will be in the air as temperatures drop to -3 degrees for much of the remainder of the week, causing mist and fog on most mornings, so driving with care is advised.
Here is a more detailed look at Met Eireann’s forecast.
