Met Eireann has predicted the arrival of a summer blast of heat this weekend as any residual rain and clouds disperse.
The high-pressure system that is due to move in over Ireland will be short-lived as week two of May brings unsettled conditions - however, it will return by week three.
The Irish forecaster says the outlook for the rest of the week is “mild or rather warm, but rather mixed before settling down from this weekend.”

As for today, there will be some bright or sunny spells, but it will be quite cloudy in most areas as well with some showers affecting eastern counties.
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread in the west and northwest during the afternoon, and it will arrive in other areas towards nightfall.
Despite this, it will continue to feel mild and humid with highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees - warmest in the south with just light westerly breezes.
The cloud cover will continue to feature overnight, with scattered falls of rain and drizzle and lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.
Wednesday morning will bring more cloudy conditions and patchy rain or drizzle for a time - mainly in the northeast and east.
The afternoon and evening will be brighter with some sunshine, though patchy drizzle will arrive on the west coast by evening.
It will continue to feel mild and humid with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees and some moderate northwesterly breezes.
On Wednesday night, it’ll be mostly cloudy once again and will feature patchy outbreaks of rain.
Then on Thursday, there is due to be some showery rain through the day, but there will be longer drier spells too.
Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 19 degrees and will be the mildest and brightest across the east and south of the country.
Outbreaks of rain will push down from the northwest on Thursday night, but it will continue to be mild and humid “with temperatures holding in the low double digits.”
Any lingering overnight rain will clear on Friday, to leave a way for brighter conditions and sunshine - will some scattered showers.
Highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees are expected, the best of which will be felt across the northwest and west of the country.
The current predictions for the weekend are as follows: “High pressure will make for a fairly pleasant outlook into the coming weekend.
“It will be mainly dry with sunny spells and just light breezes. Rather warm too.”
