Ireland is set for a much cooler and wetter end to the week as a band of low pressure moves across the country.
As rain showers spread, temperatures will continue to drop back over the coming days.
A forecaster said: “Weather model trends show low pressure for weekend with dull and showery weather but improving then next week with high pressure close to Ireland and not much rain.”
However, the damp conditions are unlikely to stick around as Met Eireann has forecast high pressure to build towards the beginning of next week, leading to dry and settled weather on Monday.

Today, July 21
Mainly dry this morning, with a few light showers in the north and west. Quite cloudy too, with limited sunny spells.
Later in the afternoon, a few showers will move into the southwest. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in mostly light northerly or variable breezes.
Tonight will see most areas hold dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells, with just an isolated shower about.
Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with some mist and fog forming as breezes fall light and variable
Friday, July 22
A dry start with warm sunny spells developing. Just a few light passing showers across the south and west of the country, with cloud increasing into the evening.
Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light variable breezes.
Rain will move into the southwest and will very slowly push up across the country overnight, with some heavy bursts possible.
A mild night with lowest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.
Saturday, July 23
Staying rather wet Saturday morning as that band of rain continues to move across the country in a moderate southerly airflow.
The rain will be heaviest along Atlantic coastal counties and persistent at times.
Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees, the warmest across the midlands and the east.
Further showery rain overnight, mainly in the northwest and along the southeast. Very mild and humid with hill and coastal fog and temperatures not falling below 13 to 16 degrees.
Sunday, July 24
A wet and breezy day with widespread showers, most frequent in the northwest. Some warm sunny spells may break out by evening.
Cloud increasing again by night with light rain or drizzle at times. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees, best values across the eastern half of Ireland.
Monday, July 25
A damp, drizzly start to the week, with a few clear spells breaking through by evening.
Top temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes.
Current indications suggest that high pressure will build midweek, leading to dry, settled conditions.
