Ladbrokes have slashed the odds over this June being the hottest on record in Ireland from 2/1 to 5/1.
Temperatures could reach as high as 22℃ in some parts of the country later today as Ireland continues to enjoy warm weather and sunshine.
Ladbrokes Head of PR is sceptical that this month will be the hottest in recent years and says the new odds are reflective of the current forecast.
“Today’s blast of hot weather has led to a flurry of bets on this June going down in record books as the hottest one yet. However with temperatures set to nosedive by the weekend, we aren’t totally convinced yet,” Nicola McGeady said in a statement.
Met Eireann has confirmed that the recent heatwave will give way to some drizzle and cooler temperatures as the week continues.
The British bookies also predicted that last June would be the hottest in recent years.
June weather has generally been warm and sunny in 2022, with temperatures reaching highs of 26℃ in some areas.
Met Eireann has warned that temperatures will “nosedive” from Tuesday onwards.
“Tomorrow morning will be mostly cloudy and damp with patchy drizzle, slowly clearing southeastwards. Through the afternoon and evening, it will become drier with just a few showers and some bright or sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in a light west to northwest breeze,” the forecaster said.
The pollen count continues to be very high due in part to the soaring temperatures. Nettle pollen is now an additional risk for those suffering from hayfever.
