Ireland weather: June Bank Holiday weekend set to be a scorcher

While people may already be in full summer spirit, with their shorts on and barbeques out thanks to the beautiful weather Ireland has been experiencing - summer only officially starts today.

June 1 marks the start of summer, and what better way to celebrate the warmest months of the year than a scorching hot Bank Holiday weekend nationwide, with Met Eireann forecasting a "prolonged warm settled spell".

Current indications from the national forecaster show that temperatures this weekend will range from 19C all the way to 25C in some parts of the country, with some light wind and breeze at points.

From Thursday right up to Bank Holiday Monday, here is Met Eireann’s forecast for the June Bank Holiday weekend:

Thursday

Thursday will be another mostly sunny day, though clouds will build at times across parts of Ulster and Connacht.

Top temperatures will range from 19C to 25C generally, though once again, light to moderate easterly winds will keep it a little cooler for eastern areas.

In the evening it will be dry and clear outside of shallow fog patches. Lowest temperatures of 7C to 12C in light easterly or variable breezes.

Friday

Another warm and sunny day outside of some possible cloud building across Ulster. Highest temperatures of 18C to 24C or 25C, all the while a little cooler though along Irish Sea coasts.

Winds will be light to moderate northeast or variable. Dry and mostly clear after dark. Lowest temperatures of 5C to 11C in just light easterly breezes.

June Bank Holiday weekend

Little change is expected with high pressure positioned near Ireland bringing a continuation of the sunny settled weather - again some clouds may feed in across Ulster.

Afternoon highs will generally range from 18C to 25C, warmest further west, away from Irish Sea coasts in mostly light easterly breezes.
